In November 2022, EPOS published its first whitepaper presenting the results of a clinical study investigating the benefits of passive damping technology used in EPOS Enterprise and Gaming solutions. The aim of the study was to show how passive fading affects the listening effort expended by the study participants.

Psychoacoustic research was conducted by EPOS at the Center for Applied Audiology Research (CAAR)1, Oticon, Denmark, and focused on pupillometry tracking, speech recognition performance, and subjective ratings for pre- and post-loading tasks for each noise condition. Users performed listening tasks with and without EPOS passive damping.
