In this article, we will examine how to create and use configuration backup files on Teltonika RUT Series devices.
The configuration backup file contains all the configuration information of a device, including the administrator password. After creating a new backup file, you can use it to restore the configuration of the current device or upload it to other similar devices that effectively implement the configuration.
You can follow the steps described below to create a configuration backup file.
After configuring all your settings on the device;
Go to System → Administration → Backup page and click the 'Download' button.
You can install configuration backup files on your device if they were created using the same or older firmware version on the same device. (backup files created on devices with newer firmware cannot be installed on devices using an older firmware version).
We can upload the backup to our device in two ways.
1.You can install via WebUI by following the steps below.
Follow the steps described below to upload and apply a configuration backup file via the device's WebUI.
Go to System → Administration → Backup page.
Click the 'Choose File' button and find your backup file on your computer.
Click the 'Load Archive' button.
When the process is completed and your device restarts, it will be operational with the config file you added.
2.You can install using RMS (Teltonika Remote Management System) by following the steps below.
Log in to your RMS account and go to Files → Configuration page.
Hover your mouse cursor over the Files tab and click Add new.
Click in the file area and find your backup file.
Click the 'Install' button.
Go back to the RMS home page and select your device in the device table.
Hover your mouse cursor over the Configuration tab and click Configure device.
Click on the configuration area and find your backup file.
Click the 'Select' button.
You can also upload the same configuration backup file to multiple devices simultaneously using the same method. Select the number of devices you want to install and click Install backup.
