Connect More Rooms to More Meetings with New Partnership of Zoom and Google Meet
Being able to work in flexible environments with global partners and customers is essential to new ways of working. We are proud to announce the Zoom and Google Meet collaboration that will help you communicate with these key stakeholders more easily than in a workspace.
Zoom Interop for Google Meet allows Zoom Rooms to call Google Meet meetings and Google Meet hardware devices to Zoom Meetings without requiring additional hardware or subscriptions for Zoom customers. This interoperability solution will only need to be configured and enabled by the administrator and is expected to be available starting today.
Video interoperability between industry-leading companies provides much more for all of our customers, especially as people returning to the office use more video conferencing rooms and equipment. This allows us to better connect with customers or partners using a different provider.
With Zoom Interop for Google Meet, Zoom Rooms users can easily join a Google Meet meeting by phone. Forward the Google Meet invitation to a Zoom Room and join the Google Meet meeting instantly with one push of a button.

How Zoom and Google Meet Work
Imagine you are Company A using only Zoom Meetings and Zoom Rooms for all video communications, but having weekly meetings with Company B using Google Meet. Company A receives a Google Meet invitation. Once the invitation is received, it is forwarded to the Zoom Rooms calendar where Company A wishes to attend the meeting.
Zoom Room will recognize that the meeting invitation is for Google Meet and will display the calendar entry with the One Tap Join button. When it's time for the meeting, Company A users can enter the Zoom Room and tap the Google Meet button on the room remote, and Zoom Room can join the Google Meet meeting.
Users can also manually enter the meeting ID to join; this eliminates the need to forward calendar invitations from external hosts.
It works the same as a Zoom Meeting in a conference room and users in the Google Meet service. Google users can forward the Zoom invitation they receive to the Google Meet conference room calendar, enter the room when they're ready, and join the Zoom Meeting with a single tap on the Google Meet touch controller.
After joining a Zoom or Google Meet meeting, users can take advantage of a number of essential video conferencing features, including the high-quality video, audio, and user interface controls to mute or mute the audio required for most meetings. However, the collaboration solution will not support all native features of Zoom Rooms or Google Meet rooms.
For customers meeting across multiple platforms, waiting room bypass can be configured so that a Zoom Room owned by Company A can join a Google Meet meeting hosted by Company A as an authenticated room system and bypass the waiting room. This also applies to Google Meet hardware owned by Company B that attends Zoom Meetings hosted by Company B.
Recently released collaboration feature
We've been busy building additional interoperability features this quarter!
In Zoom Rooms 5.13, we introduced the ability to join a Microsoft Teams meeting by entering meeting information directly into the Zoom Rooms Controller or Zoom Rooms for Touch device.
We've also introduced the option to display custom shortcuts directly on the Controller home screen for popular meeting platforms, including Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco meeting solutions. This helps users to easily and quickly enter meeting information and join the meeting.
We plan to open basic SIP interoperability for all Zoom Meetings subscribers in Q2 2023. This means that if your organization hosts a Zoom meeting with external guests who join using SIP-based video conferencing systems, they will have everything they need to join the meeting in the meeting invite. The Conference Room Connector (CRC) provides all the features and functionality for Zoom customers with their own standards-based video conferencing system.
